Description

An electric night racing environment greets the grid at the Tokyo Street Circuit around Tokyo Big Sight as Formula E kicks off the Tokyo E-Prix double-header weekend with Free Practice 1. The primary hurdle for drivers and engineers is quickly adapting to the technical, narrow street layout under artificial night lighting while getting a clean read on track evolution and energy consumption targets. The objective for Mahindra Racing and the rest of the field is to dial in mid-corner stability and precise brake regeneration points without pushing over the limit into the unforgiving concrete barriers. Concurrently, the mission for teams battling at the top of the championship standings centers on gathering crucial baseline telemetry during this opening 40-minute session to fine-tune setup directions ahead of qualifying and race conditions.

Result Description

Edoardo Mortara set the pace for Mahindra Racing in the opening session of the Tokyo E-Prix weekend, topping the timing sheets in Free Practice 1. Drivers navigated the tight bumps and technical chicanes of the Tokyo Street Circuit under the lights, with track grip rapidly improving throughout the 40 minutes. Mortara delivered a sharp, clean late lap to seal the fastest time of the session, establishing an encouraging foundation for Mahindra as teams completed their initial energy management and systems checks.
