Description

The structural pressure reaches a critical tipping point at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley as the field battles to survive the 36-hole cut line during the second loop of the 2026 RBC Canadian Open. The principal obstacle on Friday is maintaining total focus while navigating the beautifully renovated North Course, where severe undulating putting surfaces and strategically reshaped hazards demand flawless distance control. The objective for the opening-round front-runners is to back up their strong starts with precise approach play, while chasing contenders increase their aggression to lock in premium weekend positioning inside the top 65 and ties.

Strategically, the goal of this second circuit is executing calculated target selection from the tees to find the proper feeding angles into Jack Nicklaus-inspired complex greens. The tactical focus centers on surviving the challenging closing stretch of the back nine, where shifting winds across the Caledon property heavily penalize loose iron shots. Concurrently, the mission for the early wave is to take full advantage of the calmer morning conditions, using accurate mid-irons to drop birdie looks before the course bakes out and hardens under the afternoon sun. Confronting a highly volatile leaderboard, every golfer is hunting a disciplined blueprint to remain in contention for Canada's historic national prize.
