Description

The status of the opening round of the 2026 Qatar Classic (originally scheduled for March 24–26) is currently in a state of high uncertainty following the total collapse of the MENA Tour’s "Jordan Series." While the event remains on the official schedule with a $100,000 prize fund, the strategic narrative for the week has shifted from on-course preparations at Education City Golf Club to a broader wait-and-see approach regarding the tour's viability in the region.

The primary hurdle for the field is the logistical fallout from the regional conflict that forced the cancellation of the Ayla Classic and Ayla Championship. Tour officials are currently assessing whether the "GCC Swing" (comprising the stops in Qatar and the UAE) can proceed safely. The headline story for Round 1 is no longer the clinical iron play required to master the technical Doha layout, but rather the official status update due on March 16, which will determine if players should travel to Qatar or if the 2025–26 season will face a premature conclusion.
