Description
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series makes history this Saturday with the OnlyBulls Green Flag 150, marking the series' first-ever race on a street circuit in its 30-year history. Competing on the same 1.8-mile, 14-turn waterfront course as the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, the field faces a steep learning curve. The layout, which includes the bumpy runways of Albert Whitted Airport and the narrow concrete canyons of downtown St. Petersburg, offers no room for the typical "bump and run" tactics seen on ovals.
The entry list is a star-studded mix of NASCAR regulars and road-course "ringers." Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti and fan-favorite James Hinchcliffe make their much-anticipated truck debuts, bringing invaluable street-circuit experience to the grid. They will have to contend with series leaders like Chandler Smith and Ben Rhodes, who are looking to adapt their driving styles to the heavy braking zones and technical turns of the Florida coast.
