The 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship arrives at its most prestigious and unique stop: the Daytona Supercross. Unlike traditional stadium tracks, the Daytona course is designed by the legendary Ricky Carmichael and built directly onto the tri-oval grass of the world-famous speedway. This "hybrid" track combines the high-speed sections of motocross with the technical obstacles of supercross, making it the most physically demanding race on the calendar.

All eyes are on Hunter Lawrence, who enters Round 8 with the red plate and massive momentum after claiming his first career 450SX victory last weekend in Arlington. However, he faces the "King of Daytona," Eli Tomac. Tomac is seeking a record-extending eighth win at this venue; if he succeeds, he will become the first rider in history to win at the same track on four different motorcycle brands (Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and now KTM). Defending race winner Ken Roczen and the ever-consistent Cooper Webb—who has seven podiums in eight Daytona starts—are also expected to be in the hunt for the win under the Florida lights.

Eli Tomac proved once again why Daytona is considered his "home track," securing a commanding victory to claim his record-extending eighth win at the iconic speedway. The Red Bull KTM rider showed incredible patience in the early laps, starting within the top five before systematically picking off his rivals. By Lap 6, Tomac surged into the lead with a series of decisive passes through the technical rhythm sections and never looked back. This victory marks his fourth win of the 2026 season and the 57th of his premier class career.

The battle for the remaining podium spots was a high-speed chess match between Hunter Lawrence and Ken Roczen. Roczen grabbed the early lead and held the advantage for the first half of the race, but he eventually succumbed to the relentless pressure from both Tomac and Lawrence. Hunter Lawrence managed to navigate past Roczen with six laps remaining and set a blistering pace in the closing stages, finishing just 1.3 seconds behind Tomac. Cooper Webb and Joey Savatgy rounded out the top five, while Aaron Plessinger recovered from an early-race struggle to finish sixth. With this result, the championship fight has tightened significantly, with Lawrence holding onto the red plate by a single point over Tomac.
