The 450SX Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) at Daytona is where dreams of a Main Event finish often go to die in the deep, dark Florida sand. With the track at its absolute worst—featuring cross-rutted rhythm sections and a treacherous "beach" straightaway—twenty-two riders line up for a frantic six-minute sprint. Only the top four will survive to join the elite field in the finale, while the rest are forced to pack up their rigs.

Keep a close eye on Justin Hill, who surprisingly found himself in the LCQ after a mechanical hiccup in his heat race. Hill’s technical prowess in the whoops makes him a heavy favorite to transfer, but he’ll have to contend with a hungry pack of privateers like Grant Harlan and Mitchell Harrison. In a race where the start is everything and one small tip-over in the sand can cost ten positions, the 450 LCQ is the most high-tension environment of "Bike Week."

Result Description
Justin Hill made quick work of the 450SX LCQ, putting on a technical clinic to secure his second LCQ win of the 2026 season. After grabbing a clean start, Hill navigated the deteriorating Daytona ruts with ease, stretching out a comfortable five-second lead over the field. While Hill checked out at the front, the real drama unfolded behind him in the fight for the final three transfer positions.

Grant Harlan rode a steady race to secure second, comfortably gapping the chaos behind him. The battle for the final two spots turned into a three-way war between Mitchell Harrison, Scott Meshey, and Justin Starling. Harrison used his motocross background to blitz the whoops and move into third, but the final transfer spot came down to the very last lap. Starling looked to have the position secured entering the split-lane section, but Meshey utilized a creative outside line to carry more momentum into the sand, snatching the fourth and final transfer spot just three turns from the checkered flag.
