Description

The NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series (formerly Xfinity) takes on the technical 2.4-mile "National Course" at the Circuit of the Americas for the Focused Health 250. This event is centered on a high-stakes showdown between the veteran road course king, Shane van Gisbergen, and the sport's most talked-about teenage prodigy, Connor Zilisch. Zilisch, starting from the pole for JR Motorsports, is looking to repeat his historic debut performance from a year ago, while "SVG" aims to assert his dominance after a mixed start to his 2026 campaign.

The strategy for the 65-lap race is expected to be aggressive, as teams must decide whether to chase Stage points or "flip the stage" by pitting early to gain track position for the final run. With the elimination of the technical stadium section, speeds are higher and braking zones into Turn 1 and the final hairpin are even more treacherous. Watch for series points leader Austin Hill and the hard-charging Sam Mayer, both of whom have proven they can spoil a road-course specialist's day if the race descends into a late-restart scramble.

Result Description

Shane van Gisbergen proved why he is considered the world's premier road racer, surviving a chaotic late restart to win the Focused Health 250. Van Gisbergen, who led a race-high 31 laps, capitalized on a bold four-wide move into Turn 1 with just five laps remaining. As then-leader Sam Mayer drifted wide under pressure, SVG dove to the bottom of the track, jumping from sixth to first in a single corner. He never looked back, crossing the finish line 0.780 seconds ahead of runner-up Austin Hill.

The race was a heartbreak for pole-sitter Connor Zilisch. After leading early, Zilisch suffered a sheared left-rear brake rotor that forced him to the back of the field for repairs. In a stunning display of talent, he carved his way back into the top five, only to be sent into the tire barrier by Corey Day with three laps to go. Day would go on to finish fifth, while a frustrated Zilisch ended the day in 21st. Sammy Smith and Jesse Love secured third and fourth, respectively, on a day that saw the series debut of 17-year-old Brent Crews, who impressed the paddock by leading laps and finishing a stellar sixth.
