El Club Universidad de Chile es un club de fútbol profesional, con sede en Santiago de Chile, que juega en la Primera División.
El club fue fundado el 24 de mayo de 1900. Universidad de Chile es uno de los clubes de fútbol más exitosos y populares de Chile, habiendo ganado el título de liga en 18 ocasiones. En los últimos 10 años, el equipo se ha proclamado campeón en seis ocasiones, incluida su trayectoria invicta hasta el título de la Copa Sudamericana 2011. A lo largo de su historia, el equipo ha estado asociado al color azul, también presente en el logotipo, que fue adoptado oficialmente en 1943. Las rivalidades del club son con Colo-Colo y Universidad Católica, con quienes disputa regularmente los clásicos de Santiago.
A pesar de no ser dueño de su estadio, el club suele jugar sus partidos de local en el Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, en la comuna de Ñuñoa en Santiago. El proceso de modernización del Estadio Nacional, obligó al equipo a jugar de local en varios estadios de Chile en 2010. Universidad de Chile regresó al Estadio Nacional en agosto de 2010 contra Guadalajara de México durante las semifinales de la Copa Libertadores 2010.
Universidad de Chile fue el campeón de la Copa Sudamericana 2011 (el primer título internacional de su historia). En este torneo, el club tuvo un excelente desempeño: no fue derrotado, ganó todos sus partidos en Chile y tuvo al máximo goleador de la historia del torneo (Eduardo Vargas). Universidad de Chile llegó cuatro veces a semifinales de la Copa Libertadores (años 1970, 1996, 2010 y 2012).

Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos (originally known as Estadio Nacional) is the national stadium of Chile, and is located in the Ñuñoa district of Santiago. It is the largest stadium in Chile with an official capacity of 48,665. It is part of a 62 hectare sporting complex which also features tennis courts, an aquatics center, a modern gymnasium, a velodrome, a BMX circuit, and an assistant ground/warmup athletics track.
Construction began in February 1937 and the stadium was inaugurated on December 3, 1938. The architecture was based on the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany. The stadium was one of the venues for the FIFA World Cup in 1962, and hosted the final where Brazil defeated Czechoslovakia 3-1. In 1948, the stadium hosted the matches of the South American Championship of Champions, the competition that inspired the creation of the UEFA Champions League and of the Copa Libertadores. The stadium was notoriously used as a prison camp and torture facility by the military regime following the Chilean coup d'état.
In 2009, a complete modernization plan was unveiled for the stadium and surrounding facilities. President Michelle Bachelet said it would become the most modern stadium in South America. The stadium will be the opening and closing ceremonies, athletics, and football venue for the 2014 South American Games and the 2023 Pan American Games.
