Ben was ranked as high as sixth on the World Amateur Golf Ranking before he turned professional in 2012. He earned his Asian Tour card via the 2018 Qualifying School, having finished tied seventh. That season he placed 39th on the Order of Merit and was third in the Fiji International.
In 2023 he came close to winning the New Zealand Open presented by SKY SPORT at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown, which is his home club. He finished tied second, three shots behind the winner Brendan Jones from Australia. He also lost in a play-off at the event, at the same venue, in 2017 to compatriot Michael Hendry. That year it was not part of the Asian Tour.
In 2018 he won the Horizon Golf NZ PGA Championship on the PGA Tour Australasia and in 2022 earned a spot in the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews Old Course by finishing second at the VIC Open
