Godefridus Franciscus Theodorus van Eerd ( Veghel , 25 March 1967 ) is a Dutch entrepreneur and racing driver . As chairman of the board and co-owner, he manages Jumbo Groep Holding BV , a Dutch chain of supermarkets.
Frits van Eerd has been active in motorsport since a young age. With his own team (VES Racing) he raced in Formula Renault from 1993, in which he became champion of the Benelux in 1996. From 2000 he was mainly active in rally sport and won the Dutch championship (in 2006). He then started (and finished) five times in the famous Dakar Rally .
In 2017, Van Eerd made his debut with Racing Team Netherlands, which he founded, in the so-called LMP2 class of the European Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans . A year later he was promoted with Racing Team Netherlands to the FIA World Endurance Championship , the world championship of which the 24 Hours of Le Mans is part. In 2019 Van Eerd won the 6 Hours of Fuji together with his teammates Giedo van der Garde and Nyck de Vries ; the first time in history that a Dutch team has won a race for the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship.
