What's the biggest hurdle in getting more realtime scores?

I'm a Patreon subscriber and was hoping to use this API in order to provide live score information in an app I'm building. I noticed that for sports like MLB, the score is not live at all. I am wondering for editors what is the biggest hurdle in updating scores? Would a mobile app with notifications be helpful?

Also a side question. Are all scores manually updated or is there another datasource that is used?

MLB livescores are automatically synced from a source. No manually livescores are entered from us
