Hello there !

I'm reviving this because I'm trying to work on a PSD with variables as you suggested curswine, to have posters generated automatically.
I watched some videos about it, as I understand you need a PSD file + a text file with all the variables. My idea is simple: getting the country's flag in background + city name & year in text in front.
I assume I'll have to give you both files, but I wonder is there a way to dynamically retrieve the city + year from the event before the poster is generated ? I could provide a file with all the countries and cities from the beginning of the world cup until now, but if there's a new city next year I don't know how to handle that automatically.

I'm totally new to this so I'm probably missing something obvious, if you have any advice

That sounds very possible. The more experienced you are with Photoshop and using spreadsheets like Excel or Google Sheets the better results you can achieve.

You can write a script that will pull the data from the API, but that shouldn't be necessary since that data is already in a spreadsheet.

Post a draft image of what you're trying to create and I'll see how possible it is to do it for all events.

Alright ! Here it is, very basic stuff: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1j1KqkocMLgxqvKMn5m1bbtA6kc6op8vf/view?usp=share_link
As I understand it I created 2 layers that should dynamically change with what I put in the Excel file.
Could you tell me what it lacks to be usable please ? I'll try my best to complete it

You're not wrong that is as basic as it gets.

You should add a text layer at the bottom which would be the filename, this is the easiest way to control what files are called when you export the data sets.

Alright, I'll look into it but it seems a bit too complicated for me

If you design the psd I'm happy to deal with the spreadsheet and variables in Photoshop.

I absolutely suck at these kind of artistic things, as you witnessed
I'll see if I can motivate a friend to help me, otherwise no poster is ok.
I'm also gonna start to fill the previous doc I linked here with past years in the coming days, I'll follow your examples and let you know when you can import. First edition was 1978, would you prefer to import everything at once or like 10 years by 10 years ?

Alright, if you come up with anything just post it here and I'll do my best to batch process it.

Lets go with 10 years at a time, make sure the data is as detailed as possible.
