Hi everyone, not sure if this has been asked before but would there be any way to add videos for events that are not from Youtube?

I have been adding some videos for the FIFA World Cup and there isn't an official Youtube channel which uploads them (fifa uploads them in their website) and for example the last game, Brazil-Korea I have been only able to find highlights in Spanish

Is there any way to add videos from other websites?? Just by copying the video URL

Cheers!!

Hi Alberto!
Indeed FIFA on its official channel is posting official highlights for WC with a delay of 24h aprox. Here you can see the last ones added:

We try and use official non-geoblocked highlights where possible which you might have noticed is the reason why some of your contributions have been removed for the World Cup and also for NHL highlights.

Also, in the past when you were uploading highlights for Europa League and Conference League matches you were linking to video game highlights, can you make sure the highlights you add are of the actual matches. please.

Yep YouTube only for now sadly. But non geo locked videos preferred.

Hi curswine, thank you for the message

Ohh I always tried get videos from verified channels and for FIFA I was getting them from Fox Sports until I discovered FIFA Youtube channel upload thems with a day of delay...

How can I know if a video has geo blocking restrictions? I am quite new on this but from now on I think I will only update videos from official channels from the competition/team (NBA, NFL, etc)

>>can you make sure the highlights you add are of the actual matches. please.>>
Yes I remember sorry about that, from that time I check the videos to see their content and make sure it's the real game and as I said before I get videos from verified channels only.

My apologies, if something similar to this happen again please let me know so I can review it and fix it

It is hard to tell without using something like a VPN, but it is best to assume that national broadcasters (ESPN, BBC, FOX etc.) are geo-blocked. Try and use sources direct from the leagues themselves. If the only option is geo-blocked content then go with that.

Maybe you know this already, but when you go to a YouTube channel you can click the 'Videos' section and it will show you all videos uploaded by that channel. For example https://www.youtube.com/@NHL/videos for NHL,

>>can you make sure the highlights you add are of the actual matches. please.>>

I've noticed a lot of the thumbnails that these highlights have are very amateur looking, its a quick way to get an idea that they might not be authentic, but I understand its not always easy to tell.

Of course, and thank you for being understanding.
