| | At team level, we could add a selector field where you can choose the year you want to check. Something like this:
Once selected, current team members could be substituted by the ones of the selected year.
I don't know if this is very hard to code, but if so, another possibility could be that once you selected the year, it jumps into a new page displaying not only the squad for that year and also displaying the honours won on that date.
All this info can be triggered using the "Career Honours" and "Former Teams" fields.

| | Thinking about the option of jumping into a new page, maybe we can add some more special info related to that season like, for example, description of that season (text can be easily find in wikipedia), fanart, jersey & badge related to that season, competitions played/won, top scorers, manager...

| | Biggest problem I see with this is long term players like Steven Gerard who never really moved away from their home clubs, not showing on historical.
But I'm sure its possible to program around that.
I will see what I can do, keep adding the data so we have a few examples. Nice to see a basketball as well now, that will be useful testing

| | Yeh still thinking about how to program this in the GUI. I like your idea above but not so keen on dropdown form items. I'm still trying to work out how to show it nicely,
EDIT: actually just noticed you have only shown up and down arrors, this could work so you click down and get 2016, down again and get 2015. Hmm thats actually a pretty good way of doing it,

You can try different years and teams by manipulating the URL. The list of players should change according to the year. I have lots more to do but wanted to check the basics works before continuing.

Let me know, I think its working but hard to verify.... team, but he's not showing up.
I tested to see if it's because he's a manager and listed as part of a team instead of 'retired', but he still didn't appear in the player list.

I have tested and have seen some wrong info displayed:
- Players with no full info entered (Year Joined & Year departed) are displayed (see https://www.thesportsdb.com/team_former ... 738&y=2020)
- Players out of the club due to a loan to another team are displayed in both teams (see Geremi at Middlesbrough & Real Madrid https://www.thesportsdb.com/team_former ... 628&y=2002 & https://www.thesportsdb.com/team_former ... 738&y=2000)

That works great.
However I had a little accident using it for the first time though, I thought the link to adding a managerial position was going to be different than adding a playing role, so I accidentally added Louis van Gaal as playing for Ajax between 1991-1998, could that be removed please?
