Description
The 2021 Cazoo UK Championship. The event runs from November 23 to December 5 at the York Barbican, with 128 players all needing to win seven matches to capture a title which was first contested in 1977.
Round 1-- 23rd to 25th
The event is the first Triple Crown and fifth ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season. The tournament will be sponsored by Cazoo for the first time, marking the first time since the 2009 edition that the tournament will not be sponsored by a betting company.
Neil Robertson won the 2020 UK Championship, beating Judd Trump 10-9 in one of snooker’s most dramatic finals.
The UK Championship is considered the second biggest ranking event, after the World Championship, and those two tournaments make up snooker’s Triple Crown along with the Masters.
The UK Championship was first staged in 1977 and has been won by virtually all of snooker’s great names.

Neil Robertson suffered one of the biggest first round shocks in Cazoo UK Championship history as he lost 6-2 to amateur John Astley. World number four and defending champion Robertson won this title for the third time last year, but failed the opening hurdle this time as Astley recorded what he described as the best win of his career.
Robertson becomes the second top player to lose to an amateur in the opening round this week, following Shaun Murphy’s defeat against Si Jiahui on Tuesday.
