Inaugurated in 1991, the Halle Jean-Cochet initially had a capacity of 1,200 places 1 .

In 2015, when Chartres Métropole Handball 28 rose to the national first division, the city had to face the specifications of the LNH 1 . With an investment of nearly € 530,000 in its hall in the off-season, the city is installing new lighting, increasing the ground exposure from 800 to 1,200 lux. The sound system is also modernized. The capacity of the hall remains the same, but the number of seats goes from 760 to 1,010, the mobile stand being replaced. Finally, LED panels are appearing around the field and replacing the old advertising panels 2 . Before each game, a team covers in the middle of the night the vitrified parquet, with multiple tracings, of the blue rubbery coating, recommended by the LNH.3 .

In 2018, the rise in Pro B of the Union Basket Chartres Métropole once again requires adjustments according to the specifications of the French Basketball Federation : with a unique marking and the baskets fixed to the ground. The works to be planned are low, the Jean-Cochet hall having been refreshed during the rise to the first division of Chartres Métropole Handball 28 in 2015 4 . The town hall declares the amount of the modifications to“40,000 euros. The biggest costs are concentrated on the three basketball hoops which will be fixed to the ground (one spare in case of breakage) and on the change of the display panel, which will benefit the other teams playing at the Jean-Cochet hall ( women's basketball, handball and volleyball). On the other hand, the Chartres basketball players can continue to play on the same floor ”
