Il Club Atlético Independiente, noto più semplicemente come Independiente, è una società polisportiva argentina con sede ad Avellaneda, nella parte sud della Grande Buenos Aires. Fu fondato il 1º gennaio 1905. È noto principalmente per la sua sezione calcistica che gioca le partite interne nello stadio Libertadores de América.

Nel proprio palmarès internazionale può vantare la vittoria di 7 Coppe Libertadores (record continentale), di cui 4 consecutive dal 1972 al 1975 (record), 3 Coppe Interamericane, 2 Supercoppe Sudamericane, 1 Recopa Sudamericana, 2 Coppe Intercontinentali (1973 e 1984), 2 Coppe Sudamericane e una Coppa Suruga Bank, per un totale di 18 trofei ufficiali[1] che ne fanno il terzo club più titolato al mondo (a pari merito con Boca Juniors e Milan). È inoltre l'unica squadra ad aver vinto tutte le finali disputate in Coppa Libertadores (sette su sette), tra quelli che hanno disputato più di due finali del torneo. In virtù dei numerosi successi conseguiti a livello internazionale, il club è noto anche come rey de copas ("re delle coppe"); altro soprannome è los diablos rojos ("i diavoli rossi"), dal colore delle divise.

Il maggior rivale dell'Independiente è il Racing Club, che ha il proprio stadio a circa duecento metri da quello dell'Independiente

The Estadio Libertadores de América - Ricardo Enrique Bochini is a stadium located in the district of Avellaneda in Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. Owned by Club Atlético Independiente, the stadium host the home matches of club's football team. The stadium was officially named only as recently as 2005, having been previously known simply as Estadio de Independiente or La Doble Visera de Cemento ("The double cement visor") because of the two roofs overhanging the spectators.

The stadium was built in 1928 and had a capacity of 52,823 with 27,863 seats. La Doble Visera ("The double cement visor"), as it was popularly known, was the first cement stadium built in South America, and would host all international finals Independiente played as local team. In October 2009 the stadium was reopened after having been refurbished. The current capacity of the venue is 42,069.
