Part of the 2025–26 snooker season, it is the 15th edition of the Shanghai Masters since the tournament was first staged in 2007. It features 24 players, comprising the top 16 players in the world rankings, the four highest-ranked Chinese players outside the top 16, and four Chinese wildcard players. It is the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that the tournament is being held outside the Shanghai Indoor Stadium.
