It will be the twelfth ranking event of the 2022–23 season, and the second event of the Players Series, following the World Grand Prix, and preceding the Tour Championship. It will feature the top 16 ranked players on the one-year ranking list. Neil Robertson was the defending champion, having defeated Barry Hawkins 10–5 in the 2022 final. Robertson was unable to defend the title, as he was not amongst the Top 16 on the one-year ranking list after the 2023 Welsh Open and thus did not qualify for the tournament. 1788090
