It will be the tenth ranking event of the 2021–22 season, and the second event of the Cazoo Cup, following the World Grand Prix, and preceding the Tour Championship. It will feature the top 16 ranked players on the one-year ranking list. John Higgins is the defending champion, after his 10–3 victory over Ronnie O'Sullivan in the 2021 final.
