It is being held August 6–9 at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California, having originally been scheduled for May 14–17. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is the first major played in over a year, and has no spectators in attendance. This is the first time Harding Park has held a major championship. It has previously held the 2015 WGC-Match Play Championship, won by Rory McIlroy, the 2009 Presidents Cup won by the United States, and the 2005 WGC-American Express Championship won by Tiger Woods.
