As mentioned I have been working on the new 2020-2021 soccer importer, its coming along nicely so we should be automated soon. Please don't add any manual events for Soccer 2020 seasons going forward as I would like to test the automation. I'll be using the Slovakian League for most testing as its already started.

Todo
[] Finish new match importer
[] Finish Score update importer
[] Write auto importer for Edit League page to find the current season and API-Football ID.
[] Update 2020-2021 Leagues with new Seasons IDs for API-Football
[] Update seasons that have only "2020" rather than "2020-2021" seasons
[] Schedule importer to run each day for each league
[] Add Country to event soccer importer
[] Add event stats to soccer importer
[] Add events (red and yellow cards) to soccer importer

Any questions or requests let me know.

As the Champions League and Europa League are still technically 19-20 at the moment, would I be fine to add the early fixtures for the 20-21 season or will they be imported too?

Should all be imported automatically depending on the current season. Champions league is a funny one due to the timings so it might be better to keep the 2019-2020 season manually updated.

Anyone can still add events manually but my mission is to not need anyone adding new soccer events as I have all the data and importers. Hopefully this will save time to concentrate on other things. All soccer leagues on API-Football are supported for auto updates.

Ok first import is done, let me know if it looks OK

The new importer should recognize future as well as existing events, postponed events and re-scheduled events. All of which are updated automatically. This should also fix the livescore importer missing out late goals issue as the scores will be constantly updated when the importer runs a couple of times a day for each league

Playoffs and finals still need to be changed manually using the "round" field as there are just too any variations from league to league.

I did enjoy adding the events en masse, but it was getting a bit too much for me over the past few weeks, so this is a great development. One thing I take away from it is that I learned a lot about world time zones.

Regarding the Slovak 19-20 season, the 30 games that were postponed due to Covid after the 7th March have been included in the import,

It also looks like matches that didn't occur on the same date were given separate rounds.

Yes I think the round thing is how the Slovak league works, they appear to have a playoff system for the European places and relegation that was all postponed. I think its correct, but at least it shows the importer can handle the Postponed events as well

EDIT: One thing I havent managed to nail down is local event times, but I might do some work in future on it. Anyone can edit the local time and local date if they wish manually. For now the importer just does the UTC time.

Does anyone else know of leagues that have already started?

Pretty much, it starts off where the 12 teams play each other twice, then the league splits and the top six and bottom six play each other once more, but then there's further play-offs for European spots and relegation.

I'm aware time is a funny thing when it comes to programming, but could a timezone field be added to teams that adds or minuses from the UTC time for the home team? Even better would be if location coordinates could be used.

As for leagues which have started their 2020-2021 seasons, here is a quick list ...

Scotland 1
Russia 1, and 2
Serbia
Bosnia
Moldova
Brazil 1, 2, and 3
Nicaragua

It doesn't look like Bosnia or Moldova's fixtures imported, but the rest seem fine to me.

Some other leagues that recently started new seasons ...
Belgium
Bulgaria
China
Mexico

And leagues currently playing a 2020 summer season ...
Norway 1, and 2
Sweden 1, 2, and 3
Iceland
Finland
Faroe Islands
Estonia
Latvia
Lithuania
Belarus
Japan 1, and 2
South Korea 1, and 2

Thanks finding those 2020 only leagues is incredibly useful. I have imported all I can for those.

EDIT: Bosnia has no source data, not sure why...

Does that mean the Bosnian league should be manually updated for the time being?

Also the Egyptian league is still playing the 19-20 season, but the matches are being imported as 20-21.

No its fine, it will be automatic eventually just lacking source data too far in the future right now.

Egypt fixed also.

I noticed Colombian league matches have been added, but to my knowledge the league won't be resuming for another two weeks.

The Canadian Premier League has had teams that don't compete in the league added to it, they appear to be from the Canadian Championship instead which is a cup competition for qualification to continental tournaments.

The Canadian Premier League will be a bubble tournament this year on Prince Edward Island and is due to begin tomorrow.

Coooool! The only thing I miss in order to be able to add the event timeline is substitutions and assisits. I guess that this info will be also available, won't be?

Please feel free to manually fix anything, sometimes even the API-Football API is out of date.

I've removed the teams and deleted the fixtures, could you change the API Football ID from 1319 to 1392, please?

Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa are all still playing their 19-20 season.

Also Uruguay are playing their 2020 season at the moment.

Thanks fixed.

Just for info, if you edit the league the current season should be auto updated and the API-Football season ID found automatically.

I'm just waiting for the European leagues to kick off their 2020-2021 seasons and I will make it all automatic and update each league, but it all depends on those 2 fields being correct.

That's great to know, I hate bothering you about such small things.

In a similar vein, the regionalliga nordost returns today and FSV Luckenwalde is lacking an ID, but I can't see that the league has been refreshed to include it, or some of the other newly promoted teams for the other regionalliga.
