Fanart for TV shows

Hi, would it be suitable to use thesportsdb as a source for Fanart (or even metadata) for Sports events for TV recording software? I am a long time user of SageTV and one thing that has always frustrated me is that there is no Fanart for sports - so I have had to create it myself.

Is there a FAQ on how one goes about doing this?

And what about Fanart for events like Golf tournaments, especially events that have a unique event name like "Masters" rather than "PGA Tour Golf". Is that doable?

Hi and welcome to the site. Sage TV, now there is a blast from the past...

Basic answer is yes, just add an event and upload the fanart by clicking the pencil icon under the fanart section.

Currently events can only store 1 fanart per event, but teams and leagues can store 4 different fanarts. All are available from our API too.

Hi wayner & welcome! For sure you can use the site as a source for fanart and metadata! You can use the add-ons that you will find here: viewforum.php?f=5

Regarding Golf fanart, I'm currently adding to the database the ones which are currently broadcasted in Spain (you can see them here: https://www.thesportsdb.com/tv.php?c=8635) where you will find events from PGA and also European Tour.

If you want to add a new category/"league" inside Golf, you must have, at least, a minimum of 25 submissions into the database in order to take into consideration your request by our mod, zag.

Some of the Fanart is quite outdated. For example one of the background images for the Toronto Raptors includes Vince Carter. He left the team 13 years ago. Can I go and update that or do I need special permission?

And how do you add new leagues? Although I live in Canada I am a fan of rugby union. This weekend the Six Nations tournament starts in Europe but I don't see any entries for Six Nations Rugby.

Hi and welcome to the site. Sage TV, now there is a blast from the past... SageTV was bought by Google and went dormant but many of us continued to use it as it had, arguably, the best TV recording engine, a good client-server architecture and good hardware extenders in its HD200 and HD300. Google open sourced it a couple of years ago and development has picked up, including a client that works very well on Android TV boxes like the Nvidia Shield and Xioami Mibox.

I only add new leagues after members contribute a fair few edits to the current leagues, teams, players and events.

Too many people come on here, post once and then are never seen again

I'm happy to add anything new if people contribute.

Yep feel free to update as long as its good quality. We operate a "best of" policy when it comes to overwriting fanart, it must be better or more relevant than the current one.
